FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

Everyone was excited as they got into position and waited for the horn to blow. On Friday the 15th of March girls from Eastern Zones came to Taipa for the girls soccer tournament. At the tournament there were students from Year 3 to year 6 in mixed teams. There were multiple schools playing in the tournament such as  Peria, Oruaiti, Kaingaroa, Paparore and Mt Hobson  cheers and shouts of encouragement cam from the  parents on the sidelines who were watching and congratulating their kids.

lot of kids wer  kicking balls and scoring goals and cheering for their teams. The tournament was a five  a side competition. Each team had two people at the back defending and three people were at the front. Each team played about seven games.

Penny, who was in charge of the Oruaiti students, said that everyone did really well.

Although there were some people crying they kept playing on. Rose B got hit in the nose and got a blood nose but that didn’t stop her, she laughed and kept playing.

One player, Ashlyn Thomas said “ I  was really fun, even though I  was hot and hurt”

At the last horn the players knew they had pushed themselves to their highest limit. They had a lot of fun and were excitingly proud of themselves.
